We experienced a chilly but productive count yesterday. I don't have reports
from all areas or all feeders, but our preliminary species count has gone to 94
-- equal to the highest number for the 30 years of the count.
We have at least three new birds for the count:
Black Phoebe staked out by Bob Canter at the water plant at 64th & the
Platte River;
House Wren found by Jeff Dawson's group at Cherry Creek Res.
Common Redpoll seen by Charlie Chase & Urling Kingery at Rocky Mtn. Arsenal.
A second count record for Hermit Thrush and 3rd for White-throated sparrow,
both staked out by Jared del Rosso in Centennial.
And a count week special: Pine Warbler found by Bez Bezuidenhout on Dec. 31 at
Dahlia Hollow Park in Centennial.
