A highlight for DFO's eastern prairie trip on 7/17 was a *Curve-billed
Thrasher* at a ranch yard northeast of Siebert in Kit Carson County. It was
along CR 17 at the only ranch yard between CR W and Hwy 24, on the west
side of CR 17. We obtained photos.

eBird shows only 3 prior records for Kit Carson County (perhaps there are
others not in eBird): 11/1/16, 4/6/17, 4/11/17. There are even fewer shown
for adjacent counties of Lincoln and Cheyenne, all from April and early
May, except one from 7/6 in Cheyenne Co.

In the same region, there were at least 16 *Burrowing Owls* (many juv) in a
large prairie dog colony at CR 13 just north of CR V, west of Siebert.
