Hey COBirders,

Midmorning there was an arrival of mixed warblers at Clear Spring Ranch
banding. For the first time Wilson’s Warblers (11) outnumbered Yellow Warblers
(2).
Also in the mix was another Northern Waterthrush (#8; so far ALL have been
hatch-year birds; and the eBird filter is OFF now!), and a FOS MacGillivray’s
Warbler (HY F).

An unusual sighting was made when two birds flew into the cottonwood above me
(that alone is unusual this month!!), They were two doves - one Eurasian
Collared Dove, and one White-winged Dove. Hmmm. They flew into together, landed
inches apart, watched me for a few minutes, then flew off together.

Has anybody else seen these two species interact like that??? (The WWDO was a
ranch first for me.)

Another unusual sighting the last couple days is that the bushes and trees are
finally greening up! Tamarisks were naked a couple days ago and are now filling
out. Same with choke cherries and other bushes, and poison ivy is getting
thicker every day. This seems odd for the middle of August, but it has been an
odd-weathered summer here.

Also the detritus was bulldozed off the road over Little Fountain Creek, and is
passable. Actual repairs still pending.

Have a good Sunday,

Steve Brown
