Today was the opening of Rocky Flats NWR in Northern Jefferson Co. Parking
is on the north side off of CO 128 (120th Ave). There is great potential
for grasslands species although this morning I had only Vesper Sparrows,
Western Meadowlarks, Mourning Doves, and 2 *Sage Thrashers*. I only walked
south to the draw with the stream below Westgate Rd. and the Lindsey Farm
Loop.

Spotted Towhees were common, but quiet in the shrubs below the mesa. There
are a few patches of trees and one stream crossing that held a few
migrants. *Lincoln Sparrow, Gray Flycatcher, Dusky Flycatcher, Wilson's
Warbler, Chipping Sparrow* and a few locals: Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, House
Wren, Rock Wren, Green-tailed Towhee, Song Sparrow.
