The Rocky Mountain Arsenal Common loon was still on Lake Ladora at 4:15 pm
yesterday, October 12.

Also at the Arsenal: a flight of about 150 sandhill cranes came over at
3:20 p.m. They flew in V-formation, then circled several times (to gain
altitude?) and flew south, as far as we could tell. There was a cattle
egret in among the bison, at about 3 pm at Mile 7-8 on the Wildlife Drive.
Four long-billed shorebirds (possible long-billed dowitcher, but were in
winter plumage) foraging with the ducks and the bison in two small ponds at
this location. Canvasbacks, 1 bufflehead male, ring-necked ducks, lesser
scaup, gadwall, American widgeon among the ducks on Lower Derby. A
beautiful afternoon at the Arsenal.
