Sounds like you may have spotted the presumed Common Goldeneye x Bufflehead hybrid that has been seen there for the last few (3?) years. There is a photo of this bird posted on the Colorado Rare Bird Alert Facebook page, from when the bird was reported on Thursday at that location. Take a look and see if it matches the bird you saw.
