To comment on Brandon's post, are we confirming this gull is a Slaty-backed Gull? Most of the sightings were viewed at a great distance with very distant shots if any at all. Referencing the Tufted Duck from Marsten many called the duck until difinitive photos proved otherwise. I noticed Ebird confirmed the sightings so I was wondering if I'm missing something. In the photos, the bird shows pink legs, though not sure the bright pink I remember with other Slaty-backeds I have seen, mostly from Alaska, and the one in Colorado.
