COBirders, Linda Hodges, Tyler Stuart, and I had a breeding plumage Franklin's Gull soaring, passing over us at the Osprey picnic area at Pueblo Res. before lunch. Very distinctive wing-tip pattern per any other gulls with black heads. It's intriguing to think of a "spring" molt in early January, wherever it was, and then movement, nudgings northward (presumably).
Tyler then re-found later amongst the Ring-billed and a few Herrings at the Valco pond (north), also hosting a Trumpeter Swan today. Far fotos below. Jim Merritt and David Tønnessen, and then some very friendly birders from Pueblo also saw.
