Just a heads-up to anyone visiting this area in the near future: yesterday I
had a bird that was either a Turkey Vulture or a Zone-tailed Hawk about 2 miles
w of SR119 on the Higbee Valley Road (CR31.56 in the new DeLorme Atlas, seems
like it was 803 in old one). It was south of the road and not seen well before
passing behind a distant tree and I never located it again. Drat. Good bird,
either one.

Also seen along the Higbee Road: a few Mountain Bluebirds, a Rock Wren, 2
Bewick’s Wrens, a Curve-billed Thrasher, a Canyon Towhee, and a Ladder-backed
Woodpecker (heard only).

Road was very muddy yesterday and the southeast got more snow today. Canyons
south of Kim? Fuggitaboudit for at least a few days.
