Hi all I birded around Weld County Saturday and Sunday. Most water is now open, Weld CR 40, 48 have lots of nice flooded fields (both sides) for spring. Galeton's Weld CR 61/74 ponds are full and the shorebird habitat on north has water. Most water teeming with birds. Total of 53 species, best birds:
- Barn Owl -1 (seen twice, I should say she saw me twice :-) ) Crow Valley Campground on south side (Sunday) - Tundra Swans - 3 Cozzens Lake, Eaton (Saturday) - Wild Turkey - 55-65+ South Platte River crossing at Weld CR 61 (Saturday) - Great-tailed Grackle - 2 Drake Lake (Sunday) - Greater (7) and Lesser Yellowlegs (1) Weld CR 41/46 NW Pond - Thousands and thousands of gulls (Ring-billed, Herring, California) Drake Lake (Saturday) - Spring arrivals: Killdeer, pelicans, 14-15 species of duck - House: Hairy Woodpecker, juncos and American Tree Sparrows Posting some photos later.
