Gull species: Several winter/early spring gulls are being seen, primarily in 
Pueblo, Larimer, Chaffee, Arapahoe, Kiowa and Adams Counties, e.g., Iceland 
(Thayer’s), Glaucous, Bonaparte’s, California, Ring-billed, Herring, Lesser 
Black-backed, and Great Black-backed Gull.

click on “sightings”. It should list all birds reported on e-bird, but seems to 
be on the fritz the past few days.

ADAMS COUNTY:
—On March 17 a Surf Scoter was reported at Rocky Mountain Arsenal NWR - Lake 
Ladora by Joe Chen.
—On March 17 a Red-throated Loon was reported at South Platte River McKay Rd 
and 100th area. First reported March 15 by Peter Ruprecht.

ALAMOSA COUNTY:
—On March 17 (2) Eastern Bluebirds were reported at Rio Grande Wetland e-bird 
Hotspot by Kara Carragher.

ARAPAHOE COUNTY:
—On March 16 the overwintering Rusty Blackbird(s) continue at Cherry Creek SP 
Swim Beach Area.

ARCHULETA COUNTY: 
—On March 16 a Trumpeter Swan was seen at Pinon Lake Reservoir by Judy James.

BOULDER COUNTY:
—On March 15 a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker was reported at Boulder Community 
Garden by Richard Trinker.
—On March 13 a Varied Thrush was reported on Bosque Ct in Boulder. First 
reported on Jan 23 by Ernest Crvich.

EL PASO COUNTY:
—On March 18 the overwintering Field Sparrow continues at Red Rock Canyon Open 
Space.

FREMONT COUNTY:
—On March 15 a Long-tailed Duck was reported at Blue Heron Ponds on Hwy 115. 
Firstreported on March 6 by Rich Miller.

HUERFANO COUNTY:
—On March 18 a EURASIAN WIGEON was reported at Orlando Reservoir (on the 
western side feeding on shoreline area) by the DFO Field Trip/David Suddjian.
—On March 18 a Black Scoter was reported at Martin Lake (on the eastern side 
near the dam outlet) in Lathrop State Park.  First reported by Kara Carragher 
on March 17.

JEFFERSON COUNTY:
—On March 17 (latest report) - There has been a mixed flock of Rosy Finches 
(predominately Black Rosy Finches) in Golden visiting the feeders at the home 
of Kirsten Witherell. To see them please text her at 720-372-0833. If she is 
not home you may go around the back gate. Be sure you have the correct address- 
19540 W 55th Place, Golden (inside Table Rock Community). The birds have been 
seen most days this winter, most prominent on colder days. 
—On March 15 the overwintering Fox Sparrow (Red) continues at Red Rock Trading 
Post.

KIOWA COUNTY:
—On March 17 a BLACK RAIL was reported at Kiowa Creek at Kiowa CR 40 by Steven 
Mlodinow.
—On March 17 a Mew Gull was reported at Neenoshe Reservoir by Sean Walters.

LARIMER COUNTY:
—On March 17 a Harris's Hawk was reported near the intersection of Ziegler and 
William Neal Parkway (gravel / cement plant). It was visible from Horsetooth 
Road near the Topminnow Natural Area. First reported on February 21 by Robert 
Beauchamp.
—On March 17 a (m) Yellow-bellied Sapsucker was reported about midway along the 
south edge of Grandview Cemetery that abuts the golf course by David 
Leatherman.  Sapsuckers that winter at Grandview Cemetery traditionally leave 
for parts north and east at this time of year.  A pair of Yellow-bellied 
Sapsuckers were reported over the previous week and there was an imm. 
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker wintering at the cemetery/golf course. 
—On March 15 (2) Lapland Longspurs were reported at 16932 - 17109 N County Road 
15 in Wellington by Nick Komar.
—On March 15 a Long-tailed Duck was reported at Fossil Creek Reservoir & 
Regional Open Space. First reported on Feb 16 by David Farmer.
—There has been a (f) Northern Cardinal visiting the feeders at the home of 
Steve Martin SW of Wellington since July. Email for current status and 
directions: falconridge AT cowisp.net. Last report - March 8.

MONTEZUMA COUNTY:
—On March 15 a Northern Shrike was reported at 28550 Road T.5 in Dolores by 
Carol Bylsma.

PARK COUNTY:
—On March 15 a Lapland Longspur was reported at 24 Main Street in Jefferson by 
James Mccoy.

WELD COUNTY:
—On March 18 (3) Tundra Swans were reported at Cozzens Lake. First reported on 
March 12 by Steven Mlodinow.
