All: Despite my getting credit in this venue for some “good” birds down here, I deserve very little of the credit. DUNLIN — Mark Peterson called me on 15 Apr to tell me that there were 5 (FIVE!!) at Lower Queens, along with a good selection of other shorebird species, including a WHIMBREL that did not have the decency to be present or visible when I got there. Also here and found by Mark were 2 STILT SANDPIPERS and 1 PECTORAL SANDPIPER (both species are early[ish]). While the eBird filter would not have objected to a single SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER, it did object to FIVE of them. It also objected to counts of 51 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS and 17 GREATER YELLOWLEGS. While the filter did not object to the 30+ LESSER YELLOWLEGS, we enjoyed the extensive calling and occasional singing by that species. GLAUCOUS-WINGED GULL — This adult in alternate plumage at Upper Queens Reservoir was found on 13 April by David Tønnessen and David Dowell. I have simply followed in their footsteps, seeing it every day 13-15 April. It can be quite hard to pick out from the W boat ramp from the mass of loafing birds on the E beach, as it is usually among, and hidden by, cormorants and pelicans. LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL — I found single adults (both in alternate plumage) at Upper Queens and Neenoshe on 14 Apr. also present on this date here were at least 3 (possibly 5) HERRING GULLS (1-3 adults in alternate plumage and two first-cycle birds). CASPIAN TERN — An adult found by Mark Peterson on 15 Apr at Upper Queens. Also present and found by Mark was an adult Forster’s Tern. NEOTROPIC CORMORANT — When Mark and I returned to Upper Queens after ogling the first decent shorebird hit of the spring (at Lower Queens; see above), Mark carefully scanned the loafing cormorants looking for a Neotrop. He was successful at finding an apparent adult. Recent eBird checklists of interest: https://ebird.org/view/checklist/S54930626
