Monday, April 22 Monthly Program and Denver Field Ornithologists Annual 
Meeting, The Secret Lives of Ducks by Nathan Pieplow will be held at Unity 
Spiritual Center of Denver, 3121 S.University Blvd.  Meet & greet at 6:30 pm. 
Program starts at 7 pm.Nathan Pieplow is the author of the Peterson Field Guide 
to Bird Sounds, the western volume of which will was just published (April 2). 
An avid bird sound recordist and videographer, he writes the bird sound blog 
Earbirding.com, is an author of the Colorado Birding Trail, and is the former 
editor of Colorado Birds. He teaches writing and rhetoric at the University of 
Colorado Boulder.Duck courtship displays are often accompanied by dramatic 
vocalizations that go way beyond “quack.” In this talk, Nathan 
Pieplow will introduce us to the communications systems of ducks and touch on 
the wilder aspects of their reproductive biology.DFO meetings are FREE and open
