We hit a bit of a lull today, mostly because the yellow-rumpeds seem to have moved on. We did get our first two Yellow Warblers of the season (including one banded in 2016) and our first Chat. We also caught a Marsh Wren, which is an unusual species for us. Here's the breakdown of the 13 new birds today:
House Wren 3 new, 1 banded 2018 Marsh Wren 1 Orange-crowned Warbler 1 Yellow Warbler 1 new, 1 banded 2016 and caught again in 2017 and 2018 Yellow-rumped Warbler, Audubon 1 Common Yellowthroat 1 Yellow-breasted Chat 1 Spotted Towhee 2 We will be open daily, WEATHER PERMITTING, through May 31, except for May 11 and 27. We are opening nets at 6:30, and most days will have birds back at the station by 7:15. We aim to close by noon most days, earlier if it is very hot, very cold, or very windy. Registration is required for all weekend visitors; see the Denver Audubon website to sign up. Individuals may visit weekdays without registering before the school groups arrive, which is usually around 10 a.m. Come visit!
