Joe,
I can respond with negative information: the pond that harbored the Josh
Bruening's long-staying Common Gallinule near the Schware Unit of Wellington
State Wildlife Area on the north side of Larimer CR60 w of CR3 was completely
dry last Sunday (8/11). Morris Res, a little further to the west on the south
side of CR60 has a shallow body of water that might be worth checking (it had
Wilson's Phalaropes and avocets a month ago). I did not scrutinize this the
other day as my mission that date was scouting an upcoming sparrow field trip.

Subject: [cobirds] Best playas for shorebirds, fall migration, 2019

Chuck Hundertmark recently posted a note* on COBirds about
promising plains playas that had good habitat and had attracted shorebirds.
Thanks, Chuck!
Notes like that from other "plains wanderers" (apologies to Pedionomus
torquatus) are welcome on Cobirds
and will help wader watchers seek and find.

* August 10th There were two Black-bellied Plovers at the Morgan CR 23 & HH
playas this afternoon. The birds were spotted on a field trip led by Bran
Andres as part of Denver Field Ornithologists’ shorebird workshop.
Shorebird activity appeared to be picking up in the Weld, Logan and Morgan
County playas and ponds, though water remains high in some ponds, limiting
available shore, and some playas remain dry.
A small pool on Morgan CR23 south of CR II had a plethora of Solitary
Sandpipers (10-20).
