Our Sunday Fall count at the Rocky Mtn Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge
tallied about 85 species (on the low side), but the variety impressed us.
We completely struck out on one group: we saw NO blackbirds, grackles, or
cowbirds. None at all. In that family, only a dozen meadowlarks.    Notable
species included 3 Common Poorwills, 1 Merlin, 1 Townsend's Solitaire, 2 Brown
Thrashers, a Nashville Warbler, a Black-headed Grosbeak, and 3 Blue Grosbeaks.
eBird thought 1 Violet-green Swallow deserved documentation, as well as
with a couple Cordilleran Flycatchers and 40 Brewer's Sparrows.  Hmmm.
