COBirders, Last Saturday, Sept. 14, about 35-40 birders participated in the annual fall bird count in Fountain Creek Regional Park, the 28th year of this count. The 5 teams of birders throughout the park recorded a total of 71 species (relatively low) and a notably low total number of individuals. Of note was a total of 8 sparrow individuals (found in the entire park?! - strange). The 'Springs area doesn't seem to have had a big flux of sparrows, warblers, or ducks yet. New species for count day was Peregrine Falcon, and Bald Eagle was new for count week. Ash-throated Flycatcher was recorded for the second time.
I'd also like to extend a thanks to Diana Beatty for help tabulating the results. Good Birding!
