We waited until the sun was up and warming the nets before doing a partial open today. It was a beautiful morning, but very slow in terms of birds, at least those down low enough to get caught in our nets. We spent the extra time oohing and aahing over the hundreds of soaring pelicans, black and white against the clear blue sky. Only banded 8 birds, for our slowest day of the season:
