Hello All,
The Crook CBC was held Saturday the 21st. We had eight observers out and about
on what turned out to be a very nice day for late December.
Birds of interest included Trumpeter Swan, Iceland (Thayer's) Gull and Glaucous
Gull. All were new to the count.
The numbers of Snow Geese were astounding with about 85,000 present on the lake
at one time! VERY LOUD!
Black-capped Chickadees were seen again after several years of absence due to
West Nile.
Other species of note were Brown-headed Cowbird, California Gull, Lesser
Black-backed Gull and Greater White-fronted Goose.
We totaled 82 species (second highest total) and 113808 individuals (new high)
thanks to all of the Snow Geese.
All in all a very good time!
