Hi all,

Eight members of the CU Birding Club explored the metro area yesterday. We
started at Chatfield, where the Yellow-billed Loon put on an amazing show
at the North Boat Ramp. The Common Loon was also present, but we didn't see
the scoter or the Pacific Loon.

Then we went and hung out for a bit with the two Long-tailed Ducks at South
Platte Reservoir and a bevy of Greater Scaup at close range in beautiful
light at Reynold's Landing, followed by some quality time with the Brant at
Lake Arbor.

We then birded Broomfield County for a while, where the highlights were a
trio of Golden Eagles and a pair of Ferruginous Hawks. A few of us tried to
cap our day with the Great Black-backed Gull at McIntosh Lake in Longmont,
but it was missing when we arrived in late afternoon, despite having been
reported earlier in the day.

It was a lovely day to be out. Good birding,
