Had FOY Broad-tailed Hummingbirds at Joder Ranch this morning, but the highlight of the walk was a male American Kestrel sky dancing. I had never seen a kestrel performing this fantastic courtship flight before. Brian Wheeler does list sky dancing as one of the courtship displays for this species in Raptors of Western North America, an amazing compendium of raptor lore that is unfortunately out of print.
