Wednesday was a Louisiana Waterthrush in Larimer County (first County record). A few days prior we saw raptor migration is in full swing with kettles of Broad-winged Hawks and Turkey Vultures. Some Cassin’s Finches are continuing to be reported around the State, but at much fewer numbers than the mass migration we saw with last week’s snow. Dribbling in are Broad-tailed, Black-chinned Calliope Hummingbirds (a FOS Calliope was reported in Fruita on April 22); Phoebes, sparrows and longspurs continue to move through. Shorebirds (sandpipers, plovers, phalaropes, Dunlins, curlews, and godwit) peaks have passed, but some are still showing up at shores and flooded fields. And did somebody say “warblers”? CHAFFEE COUNTY: —On April 24 a Black Rosy-Finch was reported among a mixed flock of rosy -finches in Salida by Sally Waterhouse. DENVER COUNTY: —On April 25 a Golden-crowned Sparrow was reported at Sand Creek - Havana St.- to Westerly Creek. First reported on April 19 by Jake Shorty. There are no previous eBird records for Denver County. Seen again on April 21. DOUGLAS COUNTY: —On April 25 a Black Phoebe was reported at the South Side of North Platte River at Waterton Road by Doug Kibbe and Mackenzie Goldthwait. EL PASO COUNTY: —On April 23 a Black Phoebe was reported at Mary Kyer & Stone Falls Parks by Terrence Berger. —On April 23 a Glossy Ibis was reported at Clear Spring Ranch. First reported on April 18 by Tyler Stewart. —On April 21 a Summer Tanager was reported in a NW Colorado Springs backyard. First reported on April 16 by Marty Wolf. —On April 22 a Rusty Blackbird was reported at Fountain Creek Regional Park near mile marker 18. JEFFERSON COUNTY: —On April 24 a Yellow-throated Vireo was reported at Harriman Lake Park. First reported April 21 by Kevin DeBoer. —On April 21 a Yellow-billed Loon was reported at Standley Lake and Park. First reported on April 18 by Will Anderson. —On April 20 two Long-tailed Ducks were reported at South Platte Park/South Platte Reservoir —Southwest Bay Area. First reported March 11 by David Bailey. LA PLATA COUNTY: —On April 22 a Swamp Sparrow was reported at Zink’s Pond, near the right end of the second island from left. First reported April 16 by James Beatty. LARIMER COUNTY: —On April 24 a LeCONTE’S SPARROW was heard in SE Ft. Collins at Topminnow Natural Area by Nick Komar. (NOTE, access to Topminnow Natural Area is RESTRICTED, and only permitted from the fence line along East Horsetooth Rd). Reported by Nick Komar. PUEBLO COUNTY: —On April 24 a Yellow-throated Warbler was reported at Roselawn Cemetery by Brandon Percival. —On April 22 a Yellow-throated Vireo was reported at Pueblo City Park singing above the Frisbee Golf Course creek area, on the west side of the park.
