Just after 1 pm Karen Strong and I were surprised to observe a *Mississippi
Kite* soaring over the Littleton Cemetery area in Littleton, Arapahoe
County. It circled several times then went due south departing the local
area. eBird shows two prior reports at least for Arapahoe County. Quite a
treat!

I'll post more about this at a later date, but Littleton Cemetery also has
5 *Ruby-crowned Kinglets *for some weeks now, for all appearances singing
on territory in the large spruce trees there. Breeding, if it occurs, would
I think be unprecedented in that area and maybe for the county. They are
singing their hearts out, sometimes nearly non-stop. They have particular
trees they are "always" in, and can be extremely responsive to recorded
songs.
