A bird just passed through my west Longmont yard that I believe is either a Summer or a Hepatic Tanager in eclipse. The head, back, sides and rump were eclipsing red, but the only other color on the bird was an olive brown. It had the shape, size and bill of a tanager. Definitely not a Scarlet because the wings were just olive drab. No black anywhere on this bird.
Has anyone else seen such a bird lately? It only stayed for about 30 seconds. The camera is set up in case it does come again, but my guess is that this bird is on the move.
