For more information on birds seen today, go to cobirds.org and scroll to the bottom for “Recent eBird Sightings.” _______________________________________ *Spring migration notes* Colorado’s widespread warblerfest continues: More than 25 warbler species considered rare in Colorado have made appearances across the state, in addition to summer regulars. Certain warblers, tanagers, vireos, grosbeaks and thrushes, birds we would all be proud to find or see, seem to be everywhere. The shorebirds are also moving through, but more quickly – from sandpipers, dowitchers, phalaropes, Whimbrels and a Ruddy Turnstone to godwits, yellowlegs, Glossy Ibis and other leggier waders. And here come the flycatchers – Ash-throated, Cordilleran, Dusky, Hammond’s, Gray, Least, and Wood-pewee, to name a few. First reported May 9 by Rajkumar Manikandan. *ARCHULETA COUNTY:* —On May 15 a Swamp Sparrow was reported at Navajo SP, Ignacio by James Beatty. *BENT COUNTY:* —On May 16 a Gray-cheeked Thrush was re-found at Melody Tempel Grove. It is one of two first reported May 6 by the Phenegers. —On May 13 a Connecticut Warbler was reported at Melody Tempel Grove by Jesse Casias and Christine Oblak. *BOULDER COUNTY:* —On May 14 a Northern Cardinal was found on Meadow Avenue, Boulder by Alex Cruz Jr. The location is less than 1 mile from the Linden Avenue/ 21st Street location where a continuing Northern Cardinal was last seen May 9. —On May 13 a Magnolia Warbler was reported at Sawhill Ponds. First reported May 12 by several birders. A Magnolia Warbler also was reported May 12 at Eldorado Canyon SP by John Bryan. —On May 13 a Baltimore Oriole was reported on Bear Creek Path, East Boulder by Deborah Bowman. Another was reported May 9 at a private residence on Apple Valley Road. —On May 12 a Golden-winged Warbler was reported at Walden Ponds by Cara Stiles. —On May 12 a Northern Cardinal was reported along Goat Trail, Boulder by Thomas Heinrich. —On May 12 a male Scarlet Tanager was reported “coming to a private residence” in the Marshall Mesa area of Boulder County (homeowner declines to reveal location). *BROOMFIELD COUNTY:* —On May 16, a Scott’s Oriole was reported last week at a private residence near Colorado Hills Open Space by Nancy Matovich. —On May 14 a Black-throated Gray Warbler was reported at Alexx & Michaels Pond by Chipper Phillips, David Ely and Norman Erthal. —On May 13 a Prothonotary Warbler was reported at Brainard Drive Pond by Chipper Phillips. *CHAFFEE COUNTY:* —On May 12 a Kentucky Warbler was reported at Sands Lake SWA. First reported May 8 by Jeff Guy. *CHEYENNE COUNTY:* —On May 15 a Black-throated Blue Warbler and a Hooded Warbler were reported on Cheyenne CR-CC at CR-16 creek crossing by David Dowell. —On May 15 a Magnolia Warbler was reported by David Dowell at Mitchek Ranch (private, view only from road), site of famous spring 2018 Golden-crowned Warbler stakeout. *CUSTER COUNTY:* —On May 15 a male Hepatic Tanager was reported on Greenwood Road (Custer CR 389) by Nathan Pieplow. *DENVER COUNTY:* —On May 16 a Magnolia Warbler was reported at Bluff Lake Nature Center by Michael Dougherty and seen by numerous birders. —On May 16 a Blackburnian Warbler was re-found at First Creek at Green Valley Ranch and seen by numerous birders. A Blackburnian also was reported May 13 on Sanderson Gulch Trail near Ruby Hill Park. —On May 15 a Northern Waterthrush was reported at First Creek at Green Valley Ranch by Megan Miller. First reported May 8 by Karen Drozda. *DOLORES COUNTY:* —On May 13 two Red-necked Phalaropes were reported at Glade Lake 20 miles NE of Cahone by Glenn Dunmire. *DOUGLAS COUNTY:* —On May 15 a Red-headed Woodpecker was reported at a private residence off Inspiration Drive, Parker by Marie Garon. —On May 14 a Field Sparrow was reported on North Rampart Range Road by Janet Peters. *ELBERT COUNTY:* —On May 15, a Magnolia Warbler was reported at a roadside oxbow west of Agate by Nathan Pieplow. *EL PASO COUNTY:* —On May 16 a Golden-winged Warbler was reported at Clear Spring Ranch.
