Another great location for Ovenbirds is Gateway Mesa Open Space in Castle Rock,
Douglas County, on Hwy 86 on the east side of town heading towards Franktown.
There is a new 1-mile trail loop built there last year called Legacy Trail that
descends through the heavily forested north-facing slope below the mesa.

Subject: [SOCIAL NETWORK] [cobirds] Ovenbirds at Cheyenne Mountain State Park
(El Paso County)

If Ovenbirds interest you, I counted around 20 of them singing this morning at
Cheyenne Mountain State Park, particularly along the Cougar's Shadow trail but
not exclusively there. It is possible I double-counted a few of them that I
heard farther off - if I heard them 1-2 minutes apart I counted them but it is
possible that a few could've been repeat individuals.

Some other birds I enjoyed hearing (and occasionally seeing some of them) were
Hermit Thrushes, very exuberant Yellow-breasted Chat, so many Warbling Vireos,
House Wrens, Spotted Towhees, Broad-tailed Hummingbirds and Black-headed
Grosbeaks and several other species in smaller numbers as well.
