Earlier this year, Colorado birding experts Jack Bushong and Steve Mlodinow provided this outstanding resource to the birding community: https://www.aba.org/mexican-duck/ Jack efficiently covers the basics of field identification, and then goes into some of the intriguing side issues: molt, hybrids, and even intersex individuals. Steve then provides a carefully curated and annotated "photo salon" of plumages and seasonal variation likely to be encountered in Colorado (and elsewhere). Enjoy!
