mea culpa!!
In my haste I neglected to mention where on the planet Scott County (Kansas) is
located. Scott County is THREE COUNTIES EAST of the CO/KS state line . . .
it's about 60-ish miles East of that border and about 100 North of the OK/KS
state, line.
The park is at the northern part of the county north of Scott City, which is
the county seat. The park, which is a true oasis, hosted Kansas' Piratic
Flycatcher a few years back . . .

Subject: YELLOW-EYED JUNCO found by the Shanes @ Scott State Lake

Haven't seen it posted here yet, but Sara Shane discovered and well
photographed a state first Yellow-eyed Junco at Scott State Park yesterday
afternoon
(https://ebird.org/checklist/S75759615<https://eur03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Febird.org%2Fchecklist%2FS75759615&data=04%7C01%7C%7C1d6fd24485fd4b29e99508d8803d80c6%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C637400348920834866%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C1000&sdata=gM4XyUNwlT8SOuv4k64GNEWBWEPdRtfNqSGjUQBmWaE%3D&reserved=0>).
 I can't really overstate
how unprecedented this find is, it's well over 400 miles past the closest
vagrant sighting of this SE Arizona Chiricahua specialty and by far the
northernmost record ever. Certainly on equal levels with the Piratic
Flycatcher that showed up there a few years ago. I have not heard any
reports from people trying to refind it today.
