Dear Cobirders,

I wanted to take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy New Birding Year and
express my gratitude and appreciation for the CObirds and Colorado birding
community, both online and in the field, for the friendships, acquaintances,
camaraderie, and sharing of expertise and knowledge, especially during this
time of exceptional isolation. It certainly has made my year much better to
run into so many of you and connect while out birding In the relative safety of
open air (with masks and physical distancing).

I also would like to plug Scott Somershoe’s Green Big Year pledge drive for the
Joe Roller Memorial Grant. What Scott is about to embark upon is ambitious and
highly energy & time intensive. If you haven’t already pledged, I would
encourage those with the means and inclination, to do so. What a great way to
celebrate Joe’s love and passion for birds, his impact on Colorado birding, and
his personal connection with so many of us.

Best wishes to Scott for great success, big adventure, perfectly functioning
bike mechanics, and, above all, safe travels. And may my last green bird of
2020 (WWCR) be one of his first for 2021!

Sincerely,
Thomas Heinrich

By the way, it’s not the alcohol speaking (haven’t had any tonight). More
likely the endorphins from many miles on the bike the last two days.
