Part of the mission of the Colorado Field Ornithologists (CFO) is to maintain
the authoritative list of the Birds of Colorado. This is accomplished through
the careful consideration of a group of dedicated volunteer expert birders who
pore over documentation of rare bird sightings and vote on their authenticity.
This volunteer group is the Colorado Bird Records Committee, a committee of the
CFO Board of Directors. This committee publishes its reports periodically in
the pages of Colorado Birds, CFO’s quarterly journal.

At the last CFO board meeting, the CBRC Chair Mark Peterson announced that he
would be stepping down as Chair. He nominated CBRC committee member Rachel
Hopper as his replacement. The Board voted unanimously to approve Rachel’s
nomination.

I’d like to welcome Rachel as the new CBRC chair. Rachel has a long and
accomplished history of serving on the CFO Board, so really we are welcoming
her back. Mark also has a long history serving on the CFO board. I would like
to sincerely thank him for his many years of service in many different
capacities. Fortunately he has agreed to continue to assist the Board and CBRC
chair for a smooth transition.
