While disappointingly a little slow this morning (Sat., 15 May'21), did manage to pull out a nice male BLACK-THROATED GREY WARBLER at the Bear Creek Greenbelt (Estes-Wadsworth section), Jefferson County. He was with a small group of YELLOW-RUMPEDs (both "Audubon's" & "Myrtles") and an ORANGE-CROWNED in the "Willow Alley" which is a hundred meters or so east of the pedestrian bridge near the Estes parking lot, and north of the creek.
It's actually never disappointing to be out, and while it was slow for mid-May, did have some migrants in addition to the locals including WARBLING VIREO, LEAST and HAMMOND'S FLYCATCHERS, a couple of first of season (for me) WESTERN-WOOD PEWEEs, and good numbers of BULLOCK'S ORIOLEs. Also fun was seeing some breeding activity including a couple of adorable GREAT HORNED OWL fledglings in one of the usual spots, a hen WOOD DUCK disappear into a snag hole quite a ways up in a cottonwood, and a hen HOODED MERGANSER checking out a few potential snag sites herself. So always good to be out. If you'd like any further detail on the Black-throated Grey, please let me know separately.
