Yesterday (5/23) continued the trend of a variety of species led by Yellow Warbler and Catbirds. We banded a total of 27 new birds:
Willow Flycatcher 1 Dusky Flycatcher 3 Blue-gray Gnatcatcher 1 (FOS) Gray Catbird 7 Yellow Warbler 7 MacGillivray's Warbler 1 Common Yellowthroat 2 Wilson's Warbler 3 Song Sparrow 1 Lincoln's Sparrow 1 Today (5/24) the numbers dropped down again to the mid-teens, which was a disappointment - we had thought perhaps we would be seeing more birds arriving late. We had our first Warbling Vireo of the season, 2+ weeks late. The best catch of the day was a male Bullock's Oriole that was banded in 2015. While some COVID related restrictions remain in place there are opportunities most mornings for the public to visit, but reservations are required.
