This morning I made an early visit to Singing River Ranch (private; with
permission) in the Bear Creek watershed. There were several birds that were
good for Clear Creek Co.

Before sunrise I heard a Common Poorwill calling from a grass slope with
some sparse mountain mahogany, currants and rocks. I had gone early and to
that spot especially in hopes of having a poorwill, so that was fun to hear
one. It is not filtered as rare for CC in eBird, but I see only 3 other
records for the county entered there (two from June and one just
yesterday). A Common Nighthawk called a few times, for another good Clear
Creek bird, and GH Owl and N. Pygmy-Owl were also noted.

After sunrise, it was the abundant fruiting currants that were a focus for
many of the birds, led by nearly 100 robins. Two Sage Thrashers, a sparse
CC migrant, were in the currants, along with a Lazuli Bunting and my first
Townsend's Warbler of the season. I popped the Western Wood-Pewee filter
with a nice 27 (not in the currants :-). A Sora called from the nearby
creek. Otherwise the willow habitats were pretty quiet.

All told I had 49 species in three hours at one location, a pretty strong
total for Clear Creek Co.
