Hi all, It was a cold day in Pueblo yesterday, for the Pueblo Christmas Bird Count, a lot of frozen water. We ended up with 99 species of birds, plus a count week species. 10 observers helped out this year.
Highlights: Tundra Swan - 3 adults Eurasian Wigeon - 1 male (new for the count) Wild Turkey - 38 (ties high count) Black-crowned Night-Heron - 3 (new high count) Short-billed Gull - 1 adult White-winged Dove - 15 Western Screech-Owl - 1 Long-eared Owl - 1 Red-bellied Woodpecker - 1 (only 3rd time for the count) Yellow-bellied Sapsucker - 1 male Winter Wren - 1 Golden-crowned Kinglet - 2 Harris's Sparrow - 1 White-throated Sparrow - 1 Swamp Sparrow - 1 Common Grackle - 1 Brown-headed Cowbird - count week Cassin's Finch - 1 (only 4th time for the count) Good luck to everyone going on CBCs this weekend, there's a lot of them.
