Dear Colorado Birders (and other readers of Cobirds):

I am thrilled to see that more than 20 teams have now registered for the third
annual Colorado Birding Challenge. This includes 45 participating observers and
fundraisers. Over $7000 has been pledged or donated so far for Pinyon Jay
conservation. My most heartfelt thanks to those of you who have already
responded to our call for participation. This year, non-competing teams have
the entire month of May to participate. The competition date is May 20, just a
week away.

As a community, we can do great things when we band together. For those of you
who have not yet registered, please consider joining us (it is free and easier
than ever this year).as a way of giving back to the birds that provide you with
so much pleasure. We in Colorado are among the strongest birding communities in
the world. Let's demonstrate this unity and dedication to avian welfare by
redoubling our efforts this weekend. When you are out and about this weekend
enjoying the spring migration, let others you meet know that you will be
participating in the Colorado Birding Challenge and give them the opportunity
to support you with a donation or pledge per species.

We are already doing well with 45 participants. Imagine the impact we could
have with 450 or 4500 participants. For those of you outside of Colorado, your
financial support will be most welcome. Thanks for your continued support of
Colorado Field Ornithologists.
