Thirty-eight years of Continuity, Change, and Wonder at a Sandhills
Wildlife Area

Over four decades, Steve Jones has spent more than 300 nights camping out
by himself at a State Wildlife Area in the northwestern Nebraska Sandhills.
He was drawn to the Sandhills because it's the last expanse of mostly
natural prairie in North America. In this State Wildlife Area alone, he's
documented 124 potential breeding bird species while enjoying intimate
interactions with long-eared owls, trumpeter swans, and wild turkeys.

What makes this area so unique? Join Boulder County Audubon this Tuesday
for our final spring speaker program of 2023, where Steve Jones will discuss
the unique natural processes in the Sandhills. Steve will also have his new
book available following the program, benefiting three organizations he
supports: The Trumpeter Swan Society <https://www.trumpeterswansociety.org/>,
People of the Sacred Land <https://peopleofthesacredland.org/>, and Sandhills
Prairie Refuge Association <https://sandhillspra.org/>. Steve will donate
the proceeds from the book to these organizations, so this is a great way
to support some causes that Steve cares about. For those in-person
attendees who receive a book at the program, use the links to the
organizations to make your donation. If you cannot attend in person and
would like to order the book, you can do so here

feel free to do so!
