I had the same experience (coincidentally, on that same date) of Merlin identifying a Blue Jay as a Coops and lighting up yellow as I watched the jay yakking it up a few feet above me. I played the recording today and had Merlin on and it again id'd it as a COHA. At least Melin is consistent.
