Hey, all. Sorry for the delayed response here. Life. Work. Birds. Anyhow, always wondrous to see COBirds content on bushtits. (It's *melanotis* with an *i*, by the bye; no biggie.)
You actually *can* force in *melanotis* (as Eric DeFonso noted earlier for forcing Mountain Pipit!), but you have to do so through the "Add Species" button. Like this: [image: melanotis.png] Of course, eBird reviewers will want to take a look at what you got, and, of course, they will go careful/"conservative" on any reports here of *melanotis*—not only because there is (literally) much gray area between *plumbeus* bushtits (ours) and *melanotis*, but also because there is considerable question as to what the heck *melanotis* even is. But with that out of the way, please, please, please: If you think you got one, eBird it, upload a photo, provide a few comments, and let the reviewers worry about the ontological and theological dimensions of your contribution. Here's a bit of wild conjecture about *melanotis* bushtits in Colorado: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7jA-KJ6RCM&t=1750s Ted Floyd Lafayette, Boulder Co.
