A day much like yesterday - less than half our nets up and heat (although
somewhat less humidity). Closed early again because of the weather.

Also like yesterday, captures were dominated by Yellow Warblers, probably
all summer residents that will soon begin their migration south. (We have
caught 4 Yellows so far that were already banded, and they were all banded
on opening day - August 23 - *last *year.) Here's today's breakdown:

Downy Woodpecker 1
Red-breasted Nuthatch 1
House Wren 2
Yellow Warbler 18 new, 2 banded last year
Common Yellowthroat 1
Wilson's Warbler 2
Chipping Sparrow 1

We are getting the super weed whacker out tomorrow, and hope to get most of
the rest of the nets up before the weekend. The ground is finally drying
out! Hoping the weather cools down but the predicted rain waits until
Monday when we are closed.

Our opportunities to visit start Friday. There are one-hour slots (up to 15
visitors at a time) from 7:30-8:30 most weekday mornings (Tues-Fri, we are
closed on Mon) and 8, 9 , and 10 a.m. one-hour time slots on the weekends.

 to
make a reservation. It is pretty cool to see several fall warblers
side-by-side in the hand!
