I walked the Canyon Loop Trail at Betesso Preserve this morning and was delighted to find a good number of Clark’s Nutcrackers. The birds were apparently attracted by the opening ponderosa cones and I saw several probing the cones. In areas with good juniper understory, there were also Townsend’s Solitaires singing what I assume was their winter territorial song.
