It just seemed like it was getting to be mature enough that a large number of people could use it without too much help, and thus it seemed like the version number should reflect that.
Such numbers or names can be a marketing and political issue, can't it?
With the caveat that we are only at rc1 at this point...
I am especially interested in the completion of preprocessor support and extensions for error detection and exception handling as it was previously discussed. I am curious in which software releases corresponding features will be included.
