----------------------------------------------------------- From: Rakesh Rajan Message 5 in Discussion Hi Jamsheer, For a personal home page, the focus is usually more into designing rather than programming. Dreamweaver really helps here to develop (& maintain) good designs faster. That's the reason why I had suggested the same. Moreover, unlike the usual notion, you are not changing platforms to simple html when u r using Dreamweaver - u can develop ur site in ASP.NET. I have been hearing a lot about WebMatrix lately. I sure would like to try it out - could u post the link plz (the fastest mirror ftp)? As for the links to famous people u had pointed out, note the following: top-level nav bar @ stallman 2 column top design of josling Good placing of <hr>'s Left aligned thumbnails All these and more are good design concepts. Of course, graphics alone won't make a good site. You could create a good site even without lots of graphics. But the best combination is the 'middle path' - moderate graphics and moderate design :-). That was what I had been talking about. Posting this mail in public was indeed a mistake :-). Will take care of it in the future. Wonder why I didn't think of it before :-) I will prepare a few introductory notes regarding CMS and post it soon. So long then...
