----------------------------------------------------------- From: _SQL_Vinod_ Message 1 in Discussion SQL Server systems are complex and more often than not require expert knowledge on maintenance. And best practices have been present in bits and pieces around in the community. But this is the first attempt from Microsoft to release a tool explicitly for the SQL Server community. I personally feel that MS has found there is quite a bit of void space to be filled to bring the SQL Server community together to a standard way of productive and effective working experience. The new Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Best Practices Analyzer 1.0 Beta is now available for download at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=B352EB1F-D3CA-44EE-893E-9E07339C1F22&displaylang=en. The tool isn't the definitive word on whether your server and databases are perfectly configured, but it is valuable information for further analysis. More importantly, MS plans to make the Best Practices Analyzer an integral part of the product and continues to offer regular enhancements to the rules repository including the ability to configure custom rules, intergrate with SQL Server Reporting, API's to call this tool etc are on the cards. Vinod Kumar Extract from ExtremeExperts Newsletter www.ExtremeExperts.com ----------------------------------------------------------- To stop getting this e-mail, or change how often it arrives, go to your E-mail Settings. http://groups.msn.com/cochindotnet/_emailsettings.msnw Need help?
