Insanity in times of Madness!!! <DIR>
I am from a traditional middle class business family</DIR> <DIR>
My grandfather wrote this beautiful Accounting package in C/C++ which is giving even
tally a run for its money</DIR> <DIR>
my father ported the same to windows</DIR> <DIR>
now I plan to port the legacy to linux as my contribution</DIR> <DIR>
I tried to port it to java and that new sharp language only to get almost blunted by
tally !!!</DIR> <DIR>
So I ported it to open source using FOXToolkit, UNIXOdbc and will offer it to the
FSF/OPEN SOURCE communities </DIR> <DIR>
so that the legacy of my father and my father's father can be passed on</DIR> <DIR>
I will be travelling to C the new Iraq soon and am afraid of losing my head so this
decision. By the way I help my competitors to port their products to .Net and Java as
its good business due to the constant new versions of tools coming in this area. I
believe in pushing drugs not having it!</DIR> <DIR>
My C# and Java friends are now experts in their respective domains having rewritten
newer versions of the same software nearly 10 times with no extra features as just
rewriting the last version is keeping them busy and my grandfather constantly visits
me in my dreams to discuss the new features I keep adding to his legacy!</DIR>
<DIR></DIR> <DIR></DIR> <DIR>
Oh, and I am the friend prasid mentioned in his original post .... he hates me for
making him again undergo the nightmare of having to convince himself that C++ is gone
from mainstream programmer after a lifetime at it!
Do have a very nice day!!!
regards,
Ashok.
