I've trained mine to not go near the door when somebody knocks...or even when my husband comes home from work, I won't let them near the door. Now, one waits on the couch and the other on the chair for 'dad' to come in. Also, when I walk in the door, I always open it a bit just in case they are right there, or one of the kitties are there, and kinda put my foot through first to force them back...I keep the screen door close to me, and close it immediately upon entering the house, not even giving them a chance to get through. How old is Buttercup? They will eventually catch on to what you are training them to do...Sampson was a  quick learner..everything I taught him he caught on right away...now Delilah is a whole nother story..my little flower child...and it def took some time for her to catch on to what I wanted her to do, but she did...it just took time...and loads of patience!! Good luck and keep us posted!
