Hey there...fetch seems to be more of an individual dog thing as opposed to a breed thing, although I'm sure certain breeds will fetch more then others. I've had different breeds my whole life, and each one seemed to have their own ideas on fetch...some liked it, some didn't...my beagle, who I would think would've thought would've loved fetch, being more of a hunting type dog, didn't even like toys of any kind...I had her til she died at 17, and never once did she ever try to fetch..my lhasa-poo, Sampson lives to play fetch. He's played since puppy hood, and he could pick out his toys by the names I gave them when I got them for him...he plays fetch almost every night with me, and he's almost completely blind now since he was 5 years old..he's 7 now.....I have key words I've always used, and he times the catch by the words...he just has always loved fetch and refused to give it up even when the blindness struck...Delilah, my cockapoo can take it or leave it...sometimes she joins in the game, and other nights, she wants nothing to do with it...although she loves her toys...they each have their own toys, Sampson loves the squeaky's and Delilah, my cockapoo, likes those toys that talk, or make sounds, like her bugle that bugles, and her cow that moo's...so most likely it will be up to the dog...both dogs I have now, I started out as puppies with the fetch game...so you can try that. As far as a lap dog, Delilah is a huge lapdog, always wanting to be there, as soon as me or my husband sit...usually more at night when things are calmer, and she's ready to relax. Sampson is somewhat of a lapdog, more with me then my husband, since I had him before I got married, he's just used to me...but he's never far away from me...always either at my feet, or on the side of me on the couch when I sit down...but never actually on my lap...so basically I guess what I'm trying to say is that it just sems to be an individual dog personality thing in the experience I've had with dogs...although I'm sure some breeds are more prone to some things then others are to other things...
