Question how does the company react to him, if they make a fuss over him that could be part of the problem, I have 4 cockapoos and when someone comes in and starts with oh how cute in that baby tone, mine all go nuts, of course they think that anyone coming in is there only for them!  They settle down after a minute, they used to do a lot of jumping on people now they just go up to them and walk around wiggling all over the place. 
 
What I did when they were younger is I have a walk thru gate between my kitchen and dining room, dining room is my main entrance and as puppies I was always afraid of running out the door.  Anyhow I would close the gate when people came in and ask them to please ignore them for a few minutes till they settled and once they did I would let them out.
