I believe that abhishekmodi2...@gmail.com is also interested in
implementing this. Dominik (CC'd) is looking at being a GSoC mentor and
would offer suggestions on how to coordinate or choose non-overlapping
tasks.

Yes, it could. Although the new D-Bus service would need to be shipped
in operating systems before it's useful to users. Do you have a plan for
how to make that part happen.

It's worth noting for systemd timers such a DBus service already exists,
and it's worth having similar behavior when possible.
