Ahh, well, it turns out that I had the code right in the first place.

Here it is if anyone needs to do the same thing.

   BOOL isItemPresentWithIdenticalValue = NO;
    
    NSArray *allObjects = [self.geofenceObjects allValues];
    NSArray *allOccurrencesOfSourceValue = [allObjects valueForKey:@"smi" ];
    
    isItemPresentWithIdenticalValue = [allOccurrencesOfSourceValue 
containsObject:thingWeAreCheckingFor] ;
