Is there a way of determining if a GUI user (ignoring remote shells and such) is logged in from a system daemon? It looks like the WindowServer process is started for a user session, but I'm not sure scanning the process list is the best way of tackling this problem. Is there some Apple Event that can be sent to determine this? Please let me know if anyone has any
ideas on how to do this.

I highly recommend reading TechNote 2083 Daemons and Agents <http://developer.apple.com/technotes/tn2005/tn2083.html >

A good solution would be to have an agent that launches when a user logs in that checks in and out with the daemon.
